Be the Hands is Cary Presbyterian's signature congregation-wide community service effort. Since 2017 we have assisted the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, assembled Presbyterian Disaster Clean-up Kits, done yard work for church members, and much more. Beginning in 2024/2025, most Be the Hands projects are moving to the spring, but you can still serve this fall. See the opportunities below.
Paint an apartment
Partner: The Carying Place
Paint bathrooms for a Carying Place apartment. We'll need 2-3 people on October 18 & 19, 2024.
Organize Donations
Partner: Oak City Cares
Organize donated winter items (coats, jackets, scarves, mittens, sweatshirts, etc.) for Oak City Cares on November 16 at CPC.
PREPARE & SERVE A MEAL
Partner: Oak City Cares
On November 17 we'll need 5-6 people to prepare a meal for in the CPC kitchen after worship, and then 4-5 people to transport the meal to Oak City Cares in Raleigh and serve it. We'll need folks to hand out donated winter items as well. You can also help by baking brownies or cornbread muffins at home!
HELP WITH YARD WORK
Gather at CPC and then go in groups to the homes of CPC members who need a little help with their fall yard work on December 7.
Furnish a home for refugees
Partner: Church World Service
Donate furniture and housewares, shop for groceries, and set up a home for a refugee family.
