Music & the Arts

Make a joyful noise! This is the credo of the Cary Presbyterian music ministry. In our congregation, music is a very significant part of the worship and education experience. There are opportunities available for people of all ages. Beyond the regular choir practices and Sunday worship anthems, we have summer music camp experiences, special music presentations during Advent and Lenten seasons, and performances by brass choir and individual instrumentalists.

All music for worship services and special presentations are planned through the Music and Worship Ministry and liturgy teams who select appropriate music to further a meaningful worship experience.

If you are interested in participating in our music programs, either by performing or planning, we invite you to share your musical talent as we worship together!

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is a SATB mixed adult choir. Members range in age from young (high school) through more mature adults who sing during Sunday worship services September through June. The choir also presents special music presentations throughout the year. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the Choir Room. (During the summer months there is no choir rehearsal as other vocal and instrumental musicians provide the music for worship.)

Have you ever thought of joining the choir?
All that is needed is a desire to serve through singing, a voice that blends with others, and a commitment to regular rehearsal and service attendance. Being a part of the choir heightens worship experiences through musical leadership at worship; enhances spiritual growth from singing scriptural and devotional texts; and develops lasting friendships. If you would like to be part of this exciting group, come to a rehearsal any Wednesday. You will be glad you did! For questions or more information, contact the Music Director.

Youth Choir

All young people, second through fifth grade, are invited to be a part of the Youth Choir. This group incorporates instruments, simple harmonies and fun music. Rehearsals are Sundays 5:15 – 6:00 (prior to Youth Group meetings). See the Link and worship bulletins for information about upcoming rehearsals.

For more information, contact the Youth Choir Director, Julie Henry.

Rainbow Choir

We invite all children aged 4 yrs. through 1st grade to join the Rainbow Choir. We practice during the 11:00a.m. worship service, immediately following the children's sermon.

For more information, contact the Rainbow Choir Director, Zoe Lamb: Click here to send an email.

Instrumental Gifts

CPC is very fortunate to have a number of congregational members who are willing to share their musical talents by performing in many ways - from brass choirs or individual instrumentalists, to ensembles or choral accompaniment.

Conductors are needed for the brass ensemble and small instrumental ensembles. Also needed are pianists and organists who can accompany an ensemble or children’s choir, play for hymn sings, help lead children’s choirs, or substitute when the Director of Music is absent.

If you have musical gifts to share, contact the Music Director.

CPC offers varied opportunities for dramatic expression. A youth drama is generally prepared and performed during the fall Wednesday Night Live session. As well, a Youth Music Camp is often offered in the summertime. Christmas pageants and/or plays use the talents of both young and older actors. Dramas such as “Our Town” have been performed by CPCers. And everyone has an opportunity to showcase their talents at the stewardship Talent Shows.

Announcements for upcoming dramatic events can be found in the Link and worship bulletins.
