Ministry Areas

Each CPC Ministry Area has responsibility for administering or sponsoring activities and tasks that support its mission or program; addressing and developing solutions for issues or problems that arise; and monitoring the health, relevancy and integrity of its ongoing operation.

Joining a standing team or ministry is a great way to become connected with the church while volunteering your time and/or talents. While it may appear that our ministry areas and teams are fully staffed, in truth we need everyone to serve. Simply call a ministry area team lead to express your interest and he or she will let you know about opportunities that range from a commitment of just an hour a month to ongoing service.

Caregiving Ministry

Caring for our congregation is a high priority at CPC. Our pastors and lay caregivers respond as quickly as possible to special needs as they arise. When we are informed of illness, loss of a loved one, financial crises or other challenging circumstances, one of our pastors usually makes the first contact. If more than a comforting visit is needed, the pastor(s) may activate a variety of resources. Our Caregiving Team includes the Faith Community Nurse, Caregivers and Stephen Ministers, working in concert with the pastors to address concerns.

In times of need, please contact the church office immediately. Please do not wait for your concern to become a crisis. Talk with us today. We are here for you.

Conversations at CPC

Every few years it is important for a church to step back and take a look at its direction and mission to determine if it is meeting the needs of the congregation and church community. In 2013, the session of Cary Presbyterian Church commissioned a team of our members to design a process for reaching out to gain input from the congregation and to ensure that we are providing a strong worship and church experience for all.

In 2005 our church produced the Noah Report, an in-depth assessment of the congregation’s needs and outlook for the future. In 2009, we created a Vision and Strategic Plan. Both of these projects helped guide the direction of our plans and goals.

The Conversations @ CPC team has collected input from members of the church through a congregational survey. There were 246 responses.

The team then conducted a series of CPC Conversations with as many church members as possible, via small groups, to discuss the results. The compiled survey results, along with input from the discussions, was shared with the congregation, staff, and Session of the church. As with the Noah Report, the Vision and Strategic Plan, and the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee survey, this project will help our church leaders and staff in their decision-making.

“Conversations at CPC” is a recently completed process to discern ministry direction for our church. Survey results and the small group discussions demonstrated that our church has a strong and dedicated core of members who yearn for a shared vision for our church, as well as leadership that can help lead the way. At any given moment in our church, we have exciting and vibrant work in progress. But we desire to have more coordinating, and imagining, of what is possible. The new Visioning Team will work with the Session, staff and ministry teams to further a more successful implementation of results from the Conversations process.
